Dolly’s Tearoom and restaurant is a thriving establishment in a prominent main A-road position in the sought after Whitehall area of Darwen. Based in the former livery of the old Bowling Green Pub its current owners have done lots to retain its sense of character that is loved by guests.

The restaurant is situated in the same building as Darwen Furniture and Gifts which also lets space to other businesses, making the place a great destination venue.

Currently the restaurant operates, seven days a week, brunch, lunchtime & private functions only, although has previously operated as a successful evening bistro at weekends and its monthly theme nights are very popular. The venue is still very much a going concern with fifty covers indoors and an extra forty-two outdoors during the summer months. There are two kitchen areas, one for cold prep complete with double sink and wash basin and safety floor, fridges and freezers as well a dry store area.

The main kitchen on the ground floor is fully equipped includes Rationale oven, gas grill, double fryer, heated pass and plate cupboard, along with lots of prep space, commercial dishwasher, double sink, commercial chiller fridge, pie fridge and fridge freezer. The kitchen is open into the restaurant to create a sense of atmosphere. The current owners installed an impressive bar area complete with sink, plumbed ice machine and glass wash (glass was on rental). There is a three-door bottle display fridge, 52 bottle wine fridge and a single beer pump and cooler, although opportunity to add more by utilising the old cellar of the pub next door. Chintzy crockery and afternoon tea stands can be included in the sale. Outside there is a fantastic courtyard with quality outdoor furniture, planting, decorations, and quirky lighting.

Good Turnover and gross profits on limited opening hours, plus an events diary with advance bookings including weddings, baby showers and birthday celebrations.

The restaurant is known for its afternoon teas as well as its home-made pies and fantastic Sunday roasts, having won the coveted TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award in the last two years.

The venue has been awarded five-star hygiene ratings since it first opened 13 years ago, something the present owners have been at pains to maintain. There is loyal staff of one breakfast chef in the kitchen and three front of house, supplemented by part time/weekend staff. The business is also in receipt of 100% small business rates relief.

This reluctant sale is due to health concerns and other commitments.  There is plenty of scope to extend openings.

There is lots of new quality house building in the area and private parking to the front of the property which makes the venue an attractive proposition.  This opportunity would be ideal for a chef owner operator. The place has a large and loyal social media following, along with good reviews on Google and TripAdvisor. This restaurant is well known across Lancashire and beyond, having established their reputation over the past 14 years.
